Tripura mourns the loss of “Mangal Shankha” Director Prafulla Chandra Debnath

Agartala, 28th February 2025:   The entire sub-division of Bishalgarh is in mourning following the passing of Prafulla Chandra Debnath, the esteemed director and producer of the Bengali film “Mangal Shankha” and a key figure in the Bishalgarh cultural movement. He passed away late last night at his residence at the age of 86.

Debnath was a respected educator, having served as the former acting headmaster of Karuimura Higher Secondary School and as the former secretary and president of the school’s management committee. He leaves behind two sons, a daughter, and numerous relatives and admirers.

On Friday morning, upon hearing the news of his passing, CPI(M) Bishalgarh Sub-Division Committee Secretary Partha Pratim Majumder, along with local dignitaries and well-wishers, paid their final respects with floral tributes. The CPI(M) Bishalgarh Sub-Division Committee expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences to the grieving family.

Additionally, a one-minute silence was observed at Karuimura Higher Secondary School in memory of the former assistant headmaster. Debnath’s funeral took place at the Raghunathpur cremation ground, with a significant presence of Bishalgarh residents.
