Agartala, 28th April 2025: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU(I), Tripura is organizing training program under National Mission on Natural Farming during 28th April to 2nd May 2025 at KVK Sepahijala, Latiacherra, Tripura with an objective to raise awareness about natural farming, importance of chemical-free farming and future scope of natural farming etc.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal and under the technical guidance of Dr Amulya Kumar Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-VII, Umiam; Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal and Dr. Uttam Saha, Joint Director (Res.), State Agriculture Research Station, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, A.D. Nagar, Agartala.
The Training programme was inaugurated by Gaurasis Das, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Bishramganj, Sepahijala; Sanjib Debbarma, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Sepahijala; Koyal Acharjee, Livelihood Co-ordinator (TRLM), Charilam in presence of Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection); Mr. Pijush Debbarma, Programme Assistant and others.
Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Sepahijala welcomes all the dignitaries and attenuated on the importance of chemical-free natural farming practices. Dr Dey discussed on overview of natural farming, principles, concepts, and components.
Koyal Acharjee, Livelihood Co-ordinator (TRLM), shared on understanding their role, the cluster implementation, farm activities etc.
Sanjib Debbarma, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Sepahijala discussed on participatory exercises on present challenges of agriculture and need of natural farming. Shri Debbarma also stated that 9 cluster with 450 ha area will be covered under Sepahijala district and 125 farmers will be covered per cluster.
Gaurasis Das, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala shared scheme overview, roles and responsibilities of the CRPs and farmers in the mission and gave an insight into the adverse effects of using chemical fertilizers/pesticides and narrated about various infusions used in nature farming.
Participants from Champamura GP, Krishna Kishore Nagar GP and Bhatilarma GP under Bishalgarh R.D Block; Dakshin Charilam GP and Uttar Charilam GP under Charilam R.D Block; Veluarchar GP under Boxanagar R.D Block; Kamtali GP under Nalchar R.D Block; Uttar Paharpur GP under Kathalia R.D Block; and Kamrangatali GP under Mohanbhog R.D Block actively participated in the programme. The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof. Arun Bhai Patel, Dean, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra and supervision of Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist of KVK Sepahijala. Leaflets were distributed among the participants for easy understanding. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Sepahijala.
