BJP ST Morcha National President injured in attack by Tipra workers

Agartala: November 12. In two separate incidents, supporters of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and TIPRA motha, got engaged in face offs at Kanchanpur and Baramura areas respectively.

 At Kanchanpur, BJP Janajati Morcha National President Samir Oraon came under attack while what is seen as a retaliation of the attack, stones were pelted on TIPRA supporters returning home from the Agartala rally at Baramura. According to sources, BJP ST morcha National President Samir Oraon who is also assigned with a responsibility of the state polls came under attack at Kanchanpur. A total of four vehicles were vandalized. Many saffron party workers were left injured in the attacks. “BJP ST Morcha national President Samir Oraon along with state President Bikash Debbarma went to Kanchapur for party campaign. Miscreants suddenly launched an attack on the party workers. Party workers suffered injuries while trying to give a safe passage to the leaders”, said sources in the BJP.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed at Baramaura hills as miscreants pelted stones targeting the TIPRA supporters returning from the mass gathering from Agartala. “Some unidentified miscreants threw stones and brickbats on a vehicle carrying TIPRA supporters. The driver and a woman sustained injuries during the attacks. The TIPRA supporters from the other vehicles rushed to the spot and chased a Bolero vehicle where the miscreants were suspectedly hiding.

The vehicle however capsized somewhere near the Baramura thermal project and no one was found in close to the vehicle”, said sources. However, aggrieved on the incident, some shops were vandalized located near the thermal power project. However, a team of police reached the spot and defused the tension immediately after the incident was reported.
