Severe staff shortage disrupts services at Bishalgarh Sub-Post Office

Agartala, 11th June 2025 :  The Bishalgarh Sub-Post Office is grappling with a severe staff shortage causing significant inconvenience to thousands of customers including post office agents. The facility is currently operating with only two employees- one handling mail operations and the other managing counter services.

In recent weeks, additional responsibilities have further strained the counter staff, who must verify banking documents outside the office before returning to attend to customers. Adding to the crisis, two employees are currently on leave, exacerbating the difficulties faced by both agents and the general public.

The issue peaks at the beginning of each month when crowds surge at the post office, forcing customers to endure long waits, often standing in queues for hours. Today, several frustrated customers voiced their concerns to the media, urging postal authorities to take immediate action and appoint additional staff to ease the burden. They warned that without intervention, public frustration would continue to mount in the coming days.
