Agartala, 14th March 2024: On the last day of nominations for the Tripura Bar Election today, 15 nominations were submitted. Speaking with reporters, returning officer for the election, lawyer Sandip Dutta Chowdhury, announced that the Tripura Bar Election would be held on March 24. He mentioned that today was the deadline for submitting nomination papers, and scrutiny would take place on March 16 at 3 pm. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm on March 20.
Chowdhury stated, “Voting will be held in four centers, with a total of 500 eligible voters. Vote counting will commence on March 24 from 2 pm. This time, the Songbidhan Bachao Manch is anticipated to engage in a robust contest against the Ainjibi Unnoyon Mancha.”
He further emphasized that the candidates who filed their nomination papers for the 15 positions on the last day were confident of their victory. Lawyer Mrinal Kanti Biswas, contending for the position of President of the Songbidhan Bachao Manch, remarked, “The fact that four candidates were elected unopposed indicates the weakness of our opponents. Thus, we are optimistic about securing victory.” On this occasion, Kaushik Indu and others submitted nomination papers from the Songbidhan Bachao Manch for the position of Secretary.
