20-year old girl arrested in pistol recovery case, Police seek 3-day remand

Agartala, 1st June 2024: A young woman has been arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in connection with a pistol recovery case and has been produced in court on Saturday with a request for a three-day police remand.

According to a police official, the incident began on May 24 when, acting on a tip-off, police apprehended a young man and woman at Agartal Railway Station. The suspects Karan Debbarma and Debbarma of North Maharanipur were found in possession of a 9mm pistol and two magazines during a thorough interrogation.

The subsequent police investigation revealed the involvement of another young girl in the case. On Friday, Remremi Debbarma, a 20-year-old resident of Kalyanpur was arrested from her home and taken to the police station. On Saturday, she has been handed over to the court, with the police seeking a three-day remand for further questioning.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities attempt to uncover more details about the origins and intentions behind the recovered firearm.
