Agartala, 27th October 2025: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Tripura police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel seized nearly 94 kilograms of cannabis from a house near the Indo-Bangladesh international border in South district late last night. The raid was conducted jointly by Sabroom Police Station and the 114th Battalion of the BSF in Daspara, under Ramendranagar Gram Panchayat.
Police sources informed that the operation was launched based on a tip-off received earlier that day. During the late-night search, officers recovered three large sacks containing multiple packets of cannabis, weighing a total of 93.7 kilograms.
Sabroom Officer-in-Charge Apu Das stated that the estimated market value of the seized contraband runs into several lakhs of rupees. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Notably, the house was found unoccupied at the time of the raid. Police confirmed that the owner and family members are currently absconding, and a search operation has been initiated to trace them.
Authorities from both the police and BSF have reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations along the border. The local administration also affirmed that efforts to curb cross-border drug trafficking will continue across the region.
