Agartala, 4th March 2026: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), in collaboration with Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust and Apollo Foundation, organized a vibrant International Women’s Day celebration today at the Tuidu Community Hall in Gomati district.
A large gathering of women from various Village Committees under Ampi Nagar block participated in the event. The programme was formally inaugurated by CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia, EM Kamal Kalai, and MLA Pathan Lal Jamatia.
As part of the occasion, Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust and Apollo Foundation highlighted their joint initiative to strengthen rural healthcare through Mobile Medical Units (MMUs). Supported by TTAADC, these units operate in remote tribal areas, offering medical consultations, diagnostics, and essential medicines.
In late 2025, six new MMUs were introduced by Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, extending services to over 75 villages across multiple districts. Staffed with doctors, nurses, and paramedics, the vans focus on improving healthcare access for women and children while reducing the burden on urban hospitals.
To mark the celebration, a medical camp was organized with a team from Kherengbar Hospital. Reports confirm that 302 patients received free medicines following consultations. Additionally, 144 blood tests, 122 sugar tests, and 22 hemoglobin tests were conducted. Women participants were also provided with healthcare kits under the Altius initiative, while the ADC administration distributed garments.
Addressing the gathering, EM Kamal Kalai emphasized: “Our main objective is to uplift underprivileged indigenous communities in education, health, and economic status. We place special focus on empowering rural women. TMP is committed to fighting for rights and building a healthy indigenous society.”
Local villagers expressed gratitude to the ADC administration for their philanthropic efforts. The event also saw the presence of Sanjay Jamatia, Ampi Block TMP president, Debarshi Jamatia, YTF president, and several other dignitaries.
