Agartala’s GBP Hospital refers 308 patients to ILS Hospitals in 3 fiscal years; Over 29,000 referred to GB & IGM Hospitals

Agartala, 5th March 2024:   In a significant disclosure on the floor of the Assembly’s budget session, the Health Minister, who is also the Chief Minister, Prof Dr. Manik Saha, provided a comprehensive report on patient referrals within the state’s healthcare system over the past three fiscal years.

According to the statement, a staggering 29,271 patients have been transferred from various sub-divisional and district hospitals to the premier medical institutions of the state, the Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital (AGMC & GBP) and the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGM). Out of these, 22,774 patients were referred to AGMC & GBP Hospital, while 6,497 patients were directed to IGM Hospital.

The data further reveals a detailed breakdown of referrals to AGMC & GBP Hospital over the three years, with 8,394 patients in FY 2021-22, 7,419 patients in FY 2022-23, and 6,961 patients in the current fiscal year, FY 2023-24. Similarly, IGM Hospital received 2,160 patients in FY 2021-22, 2,217 patients in FY 2022-23, and 2,120 patients in FY 2023-24.

In addition, the Gobind Ballabh Pant Hospital (GBP Hospital) has referred a total of 308 patients to ILS Hospitals, Agartala, within the same period. The fiscal year 2021-22 saw the highest number of referrals with 262 patients, followed by 33 patients in FY 2022-23, and 13 patients in the ongoing fiscal year.

The Health Minister’s report underscores the dynamic patient management and referral system in place, reflecting the state’s commitment to ensuring timely and efficient healthcare services. The data presented also highlights the crucial role of tertiary care hospitals in managing the healthcare needs of the population.
