Agartala, 27th April 2026: Ramchandraghat Assembly Constituency MLA Ranjit Debbarma has raised serious concerns over alleged discrepancies in the question paper and provisional answer key of the Excise Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination conducted by the Tripura Public Service Commission. On Monday (April 27, 2026), he submitted a formal letter to the Chairman of the Commission, urging immediate corrective measures in the interest of candidates.
In his letter, the MLA highlighted multiple errors in the General Studies (Series-B) examination held on February 22, 2026, as well as in the subsequently published provisional answer key. He pointed out that question numbers 22, 28, and 39 contained inaccuracies, while the answers provided for questions 23, 26, 27, 36, 57, and 83 were allegedly incorrect.
To safeguard the interests of aspirants, Debbarma put forward four key proposals. He called for the awarding of grace marks to all candidates for disputed or erroneous questions. He also demanded the abolition of the ₹100 fee charged per question for challenging answer keys, particularly considering the socio-economic conditions of candidates, especially those from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities.
Further, he urged the Commission to initiate action against officials responsible for such lapses and to refund the fees collected from candidates for raising objections, stating that the burden should not fall on aspirants for errors committed by the Commission.
The recruitment process, advertised under notification number 11/2025 for 39 permanent Excise Sub-Inspector posts under the Finance Department, has come under scrutiny following reports of irregularities published in the local daily Syandan Patrika on April 26. Supporting documents and evidence have also been submitted along with the MLA’s letter.
Emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness in the recruitment process, Debbarma stated that prompt and positive intervention by the Tripura Public Service Commission is essential to address the grievances and restore confidence among job aspirants. The development has sparked fresh hope among candidates, who are now awaiting the Commission’s response to the allegations.
