Agartala, 27th April 2026: Tripura Police have seized a large consignment of narcotics valued at approximately Rs 8.5 lakh during a routine patrol in Sepahijala district.
According to Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura Police Station, Tapas Das, the recovery was made during patrolling duty in areas including N.C. Nagar, Durgapur, Kulubari, and the Srimantapur border road. Police officials found and seized 130 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup, 33 kg of dry cannabis (ganja), and 4,000 yaba tablets, all reportedly left unclaimed.
The seized items were taken into custody following all required legal procedures. Police have also initiated an investigation to identify the individuals responsible for storing and transporting the illegal substances.
Authorities stated that efforts are underway to trace the source and intended destination of the contraband. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is around Rs 8.5 lakh.
Tripura Police said the operation reflects ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking activities in border areas of Tripura.
