Agartala Aug 6: A rally was organized by Tripura Pradesh Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Agartala branch with four-point demands including hike in wages and honorarium, implementation of Supreme Court’s order and many more.

The Anganwadi workers present in the rally expressed their anger against the government. They said, “In these 4.5 years of BJP governance in the state, we have not received even a single benefit. Today’s rally is to remind the government of its responsibilities towards us”.

The Anganwadi workers added that they have been suffering from extreme deprivation for a long time and therefore they have been knocking the door of the concerned authorities including the Minister of Social Wefare and Social Education. But till date none of their demands have been met, alleged the Anganwadi workers and helpers.

So it was decided to meet the Chief Minister and hand over the demands through the rally on Saturday. But without getting a chance to meet, a procession was organized in the city. Therefore, they demanded the government to take initiative to regularize the jobs of Anganwadi workers and assistants, provide them with pension like government employees after retirement and make the age limit of service retirement 65 years. Anganwadi workers have warned to launch a larger movement against the government in the coming days if their demands are not met immediately.
