Assembly of Journalists  meet Governor, raise issues of safety and accommodation

Agartala, January 27: A delegation of Assembly of Journalists (AoJ) met Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday and presented him with floral tributes. The delegation, led by AoJ chairman and editor of Syandan Patrika, Syandan TV and Syandan Digital, Subal Kumar Dey, discussed the current problems faced by journalists in the state with the Governor.

The delegation raised the issue of providing accommodation facilities for journalists, especially those working in remote areas. They also demanded the prevention of attacks on journalists and the speedy trial of the cases related to the murder of two journalists in the state in 2017 and 2018.

The Governor assured the delegation that he would take necessary steps to resolve the issues in the best interests of journalists. He said that he would try to visit the field and interact with the journalists personally if required.

The AoJ chairman said that he was satisfied with the Governor’s response and that he had received positive assurance from him about solving all the problems. The delegation expressed their excitement and gratitude after meeting the Governor.
