Agartala, 20th January 2025: The recovery of a newborn baby’s body from the Khowai River in the Kuchpara area, under the jurisdiction of Kalyanpur police station, has sent shockwaves through the local community.
The grim discovery was reported around 1:30 PM today when locals spotted the body near the riverbank and informed the police. A team from Kalyanpur police station, led by Officer-in-Charge Tapas Malakar, promptly reached the site, retrieved the body, and sent it to Kalyanpur Hospital for an autopsy.
Speaking on the incident, Officer-in-Charge Malakar said, “The body of the newborn has been recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been initiated to identify the child and determine the cause of death. Efforts are being made to trace the origin of the body and ascertain if it was abandoned or if there was any foul play involved.”
The incident has drawn a large crowd of concerned residents to the site. Eyewitnesses reported that the body appeared to have been lying at the riverbank for some time. Describing the incident as tragic and inhumane, locals called for swift action to bring clarity and justice to the case.
