Agartala, 15th October 2024: The Government Railway Police recovered a body hanging from the Kolkata-Sabroom Sealdah Express after the train arrived at its destination, Sabroom, located in Tripura’s South District, on Tuesday.
Police sources reported that around 10 PM on Monday, the Sabroom police station received a notification from railway cleaning staff about the discovery of a hanging body in the Sealdah Express, which had traveled from Kolkata.
“The officials of the Government Railway Police (GRP) were informed by the railway department. GRP officials arrived at Sabroom Railway Station, where the body was taken down. It was then handed over to the Sabroom police station and transported to the morgue of Sabroom Hospital after completing legal proceedings at around 5:15 AM on Tuesday. Upon initial inspection, a mobile phone, some cash, an ID card, Aadhaar card, and PAN card were recovered from the body,” the police stated.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Arun Debnath (48), a resident of Dharmanagar in the North District.
“The deceased had a ticket from Sealdah to Dharmanagar in his pocket. It was learned that Arun Debnath used to live in Bangalore. After speaking to his family, it was revealed that Arun was returning home after six months, carrying the money he had earned during that period. His body was handed over to his family after the post-mortem at around 4:30 PM on Tuesday,” the police added.
