Brave Indian Army Soldier Shubhankar Bhowmick of Tripura Martyred in Siachen Avalanche

Agartala, 19th November 2024:   Indian Army soldier Shubhankar Bhowmick, a resident of Birganj in the Amarpur area, tragically passed away while serving on the Siachen border in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources confirmed that Bhowmick was martyred in an avalanche in the Geleshia area of Siachen. He was engaged in a rescue operation when the avalanche struck yesterday afternoon. The brave soldier of the Indian Army lost his life during this operation in the hazardous snow-covered region.

As the news of his sacrifice spread, a wave of grief descended upon the community. It is reported that his body will arrive at his home on Wednesday evening.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha expressed his condolences, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Naik Shubhankar Bhowmick, a son of our state and a brave soldier of the Assam Regiment, who was serving on the Siachen border in Jammu and Kashmir. I pray to God to grant his soul eternal peace and extend my deepest condolences to his bereaved family.”

Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also expressed his sorrow, saying, “A brave soldier from the Birganj area of Amarpur in our state, Shubhankar Bhowmick, died prematurely due to a glacial avalanche while serving on the Siachen border in Jammu and Kashmir. I am deeply saddened by his untimely demise. My heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time. I pray to Almighty God for the eternal peace of his departed soul, and offer my deepest sympathies to his family, relatives, friends, and followers.”
