Agartala, 1st July 2024: In a pivotal move ahead of the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections, the Tripura Pradesh Congress convened an organizational meeting on Monday. The gathering took place at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan here, saw the participation of various block and district chairmen as well as leaders from the Scheduled Castes section of the party.
The meeting was called to address several organizational issues, with a primary focus on the selection of candidates for the elections. “Today’s meeting with the block and district chairmen of the Scheduled Caste Cell were crucial as we prepare for the panchayat elections,” stated Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha. He further elaborated, “The selection of candidates was a key topic of discussion. If everything proceeds as planned, we anticipate the elections will be held in the first week of August.”
The Congress party’s efforts are part of a broader strategy, as opposition parties ramp up their internal preparations against the ruling party. These preparations include mobilizing staff, strategizing, and conducting periodic meetings. A significant aspect of the strategy is the careful selection of candidates to avoid internal conflicts and ensure a smooth electoral process. “We are taking all necessary steps to avoid any party conflicts post-announcement of our candidates,” Saha emphasized.
As the panchayat elections approach, the political atmosphere in Tripura is heating up, with all parties working diligently to position themselves favorably in the upcoming electoral battle.
