Candidates allege manipulation in SOFED hiring

Date:

Agartala, 16th May 2026:  Allegations of corruption have surfaced against SOFED in its recent recruitment process. Today, job aspirants staged a protest outside SOFED’s office in Indranagar, Agartala, accusing the organization of manipulation in the selection procedure.

According to the candidates, advertisements for Grade A and Grade B posts were issued last September, followed by examinations. Results were declared on Friday, but protesters claim that several SOFED employees’ names appeared at the top of the merit list.

Candidates alleged that despite scoring over 70 marks in their degree examinations, many of them secured only 20–30 marks in the diploma section, which they described as highly questionable. Adding to their suspicion, they pointed out that although the test was conducted for 85 marks, results were published out of 100.

“This kind of malpractice by an independent recruitment board is unacceptable and must be challenged,” said one aggrieved youth. He further warned that if such boards continue to operate in the state, the future of thousands of young aspirants will remain uncertain.

Nearly 1,000 candidates appeared for the examination. Protesters claimed that corruption had robbed them of fair opportunities and demanded an impartial investigation. They also urged authorities to conduct the examination afresh to ensure transparency and justice.
