Agartala, 17th June 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday reiterated the state government’s commitment to the holistic development of the Janajati community, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the Chintan Baithak held at Geetanjali Tourist Guest House in Agartala, Dr. Saha described the meeting as vital for both strengthening the BJP and preparing strategic groundwork ahead of the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
“These Chintan Baithaks with our Janajati leaders are crucial. The main objective is to assess how we can work more effectively in the future, determine our direction, and enhance the organisational strength of the BJP,” said the Chief Minister.
He underlined that the BJP — the world’s largest political party — continues to function with a deep sense of duty towards every section of society, especially the backward and marginalised communities. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently stressed the need to uplift backward classes. Following his footsteps, our government is focused on comprehensive development — be it in education, health, infrastructure, economy, or sports — for the Janajati population,” Dr. Saha added.
Highlighting the demographic significance of Janajati communities, he noted that they make up 31% of Tripura’s population as per the 2011 Census. “PM Modi’s declaration of Janajati Gaurav Diwas in honour of Bhagwan Birsa Munda reflects the Centre’s commitment towards tribal welfare. In Tripura, too, we are implementing this vision sincerely,” Dr. Saha said.
He also mentioned that the Chintan Baithak served as a platform to deliberate on key issues impacting the Janajati people and to frame strategies for the TTAADC elections. “We are discussing not only what has already been achieved under the leadership of PM Modi and our state government, but also what lies ahead — how we reach out to people and earn their trust in the run-up to the elections,” he said. The meeting was attended by BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharya, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, former MP Rebati Tripura, and other senior party functionaries.
