Agartala, 10th February 2025:   The newly constructed road from Bishalgarh to Dhakarbari, built at the expense of crores of rupees from the government treasury is already showing significant signs of wear and tear within just a year. The situation has left the local residents deeply dissatisfied and concerned about the quality of the construction.

The road stretches from Jangalia to Sunamganj Bazar was constructed during the tenure of former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varman when he was an MLA. Despite the official documentation naming a contractor from the capital city, the actual work was carried out by the husband of a ruling party leader from the Bishalgarh Office Tilla area. This has raised several questions about the integrity of the project.

Numerous complaints about the poor quality of the work surfaced during the construction phase, and these concerns were widely reported in the media. However, the Public Works Department did not take any action at that time. As a result, the road has rapidly deteriorated, causing extreme difficulties for commuters.

Local residents expressed their frustration over the substandard work, attributing the blame to the contractor’s use of his wife’s political influence to bypass objections and complete the road with poor-quality materials. “The quality of work during the construction was very poor. Stones from the road are now coming up after just one year,” said a local resident.

This morning, residents of the Brajapur area voiced their grievances through the media, pointing out that the road, constructed during the then Deputy Chief Minister’s term, has now become completely dilapidated. They accused the contractors of doing subpar work and siphoning off funds, leaving the road in a deplorable state.

“Let’s see when the Public Works Department will take responsibility and fix this road,” a local resident remarked.
