Agartala, 27th April 2024: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier from the 124th battalion, named Montu Bora, has been lauded for his act of kindness during the recent elections in East Tripura Parliamentary Constituency. The soldier, who hails from Barpeta in Assam, was on duty at the Uptakhali Panchayat office of Booth No. 33, Assembly No. 57 of North Tripura District on April 26.
During the voting process, a mother with her infant child faced difficulties while standing in a long queue under the scorching heat. This act of humanity was captured and shared on various social media platforms and newspapers, quickly going viral.
Bora’s actions not only highlighted the soldiers’ commitment to their security duties but also their involvement in humanitarian and social work. After about five and a half minutes, the mother returned and took her baby back from Bora.
In recognition of his exemplary service, Bora was felicitated on Saturday by the state police administration and the CRPF. The ceremony was attended by North Tripura District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty and CRPF 124 Battalion Commandant Mukesh Tyagi, among others.
During the press conference, Chakraborty praised Bora’s actions as an “unprecedented case of security personnel coming forward for social work in addition to security.” Commandant Tyagi echoed these sentiments, stating that CRPF jawans are not only involved in security but also participate in various social activities. He expressed his intention to request the higher authorities to award Bora the DG Disc for his commendable service.
