Agartala, 27th April 2024: In a compassionate response to the severe heatwave currently affecting the state, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha lead a humanitarian initiative on Saturday, providing much-needed relief to the citizens. Amidst the scorching temperatures, the Chief Minister’s office organized a distribution drive at IGM Chowmuhani, where locals were provided with water and fresh fruits to help them combat the heat.
The Meteorological Department has issued a stark warning, predicting that the state will experience temperatures significantly above the seasonal average. In light of this, the department has advised residents to take necessary precautions to safeguard their health. Echoing this sentiment, the state government has taken the proactive step of declaring a four-day holiday for educational institutions, prioritizing the well-being of students during this extreme weather event.
Adding to the efforts, Rajib Bhattacharjee, the state BJP president, joined the cause by contributing to the distribution of cold drink sherbet. This initiative, organized by ward 31 of 9-Banmalipur Mandal of the Bharatiya Janata Party, offered a refreshing respite to those enduring the day’s heat. In a similar vein, Mayor Dipak Majumder demonstrated solidarity by participating in a parallel event, where he personally served cold drink sherbet to pedestrians, further illustrating the community’s united front against the heatwave.
The state’s leadership has shown a commendable level of care and concern for its citizens, ensuring that the community’s most immediate needs are met during this challenging time.
