Agartala, April 27: Allegations have emerged against Dr. Ravi Shankar Dutta, a doctor practicing at the Nihar Nagar Primary Health Center in Rajnagar assembly constituency of Dakshin district. It is alleged that Dr. Dutta was involved in the unlawful termination of pregnancies, targeting both married and unmarried women for monetary gain.
Reports suggest that married women were charged between Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 for the termination of their pregnancies, while unmarried girls were reportedly charged higher, ranging from 40,000 to 50,000 rupees. The accusations have drawn attention not only from the Niharnagar area but also from various other regions, indicating the scale of this unethical practice.
When confronted by media personnel, Dr. Ravi Shankar Dutta vehemently denied the allegations of feticide. However, the District Health Officer and the State Health Department are now under pressure to investigate and take appropriate action against the accused doctor.
