Agartala, 25th November 2024: The district-level sensitization program of Balika Mancha, part of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative was held at Ambasa Town Hall. The event was organized by the Dhalai District Administration in collaboration with the District Social Welfare and Social Education department and the District Education department. Dhalai Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Sushmita Das inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The event was attended by Additional District Magistrate Subhash Acharya, Special Speaker Sanjay Biswas from the Belonia Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office, District Chief Health Officer Dr. Appello Kalai, Additional Superintendent of Police Olivia Debbarma and DISE Abid Hossain.
A highlight of the program was the presence of Kumari Jotsna Akhtar, a Prime Minister’s Rashtriya Bal Puraskar winner from South District honored for her significant contributions in preventing child marriage. Jotsna Akhtar shared her experiences and was felicitated on stage.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of the Balika Mancha program, educating students from various schools about pertinent issues and the steps needed to address them. A key focus was on the collective responsibility to prevent child marriage.
The event received an overwhelming response, with notable attendance from students, officials, and police personnel. The strong turnout highlighted the community’s commitment to promoting the goals of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
