Agartala, 1st January 2025: An elderly woman tragically passed away after being struck by a train on the first day of the English New Year. The incident took place when the Agartala-Karimganj DEMU train hit the woman in the Trishabari area under Teliamura police station in Khowai district. Upon receiving the information, the police quickly arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem.
According to reports, early in the morning local residents discovered the body on the railway track in Trishabari, Khowai district, and immediately informed the police. The police then retrieved the body and sent it to the hospital for further examination.
The deceased has been identified as 58-year-old Ujjwala Sarkar Das, who had been engaged in brick-breaking work for a long time. Railway police sources indicated that, as she was crossing the railway bridge on her way to work, she might have been hit by the Agartala-Karimganj DEMU train, leading to her death.
