Agartala, 16th July 2026: Dhruba Chowdhury, father of 22-month-old Manashree Chowdhury, who is battling the rare genetic disorder Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), has appealed to all political parties in Tripura to join hands and help raise funds for his daughter’s life-saving treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi.
Making an emotional plea, Dhruba Chowdhury urged leaders of the BJP, Congress, CPI(M), TIPRA Motha, IPFT, CJP and other political parties to rise above political differences and stand together in support of his daughter.
“My humble request to every political party in Tripura is to come together for my daughter. This is not about politics—it is about saving the life of a child. Your support, whether through an appeal, an initiative or any other effort, can inspire thousands of people to contribute and give Manashree a new lease of life,” he said.
With folded hands, he further appealed, “Please stand by Tripura’s daughter. We have very little time left. Every passing day is crucial, and every contribution matters. I will remain forever grateful to everyone who extends support during this difficult time.”
The treatment required for Manashree is estimated to cost around ₹16 crore. According to the family, nearly ₹4 crore has been raised so far through donations, leaving a shortfall of about ₹12 crore.
To achieve the target, Dhruba Chowdhury urged people from all walks of life to contribute, saying that if three lakh people donate ₹500 each, nearly ₹15 crore could be collected. He expressed hope that a united effort by political leaders, organisations and citizens would help secure the remaining funds and give his daughter a chance to receive timely treatment.
The emotional appeal has resonated with many across Tripura, with the family continuing its campaign to mobilise support for the toddler’s treatment.
