Agartala, 24th August 2026 : Tripura government has stepped up efforts to monitor the supply and prices of essential commodities across the state. Food, Public Distribution and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a review meeting at the State Secretariat on Monday to assess the prevailing market situation and ensure uninterrupted availability of daily necessities.
Senior officials of the Food Department, including the Principal Secretary and Director, along with representatives of the Tripura Wholesale Grocery Merchant Association, participated in the meeting.
The discussions covered the availability, wholesale supply and prevailing prices of essential items such as rice, pulses, edible oil, sugar, potatoes and onions. Officials also reviewed possible factors that could affect the regular supply of these commodities.
The minister directed all concerned stakeholders to maintain close coordination and ensure that essential goods reach markets across the state without disruption. He also stressed the need to prevent artificial shortages and unwarranted price hikes.
Maintaining market stability was another key focus of the meeting. The participants discussed the importance of closely monitoring price movements and taking timely measures whenever unusual fluctuations are noticed.
Chowdhury said the government would continue to monitor the market situation closely and take necessary steps to protect consumers. He emphasized that ensuring adequate supplies and reasonable prices of essential commodities remains a priority of the state government.
