Gandhi Jayanti celebrated with grand procession at Panisagar

Agartala, 3rd October 2025 : A vibrant and well-organized procession marked the celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary in Panisagar yesterday morning. The event took place at 8 AM, was jointly organized by the Panisagar Nagar Panchayat and the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs.

The day began with a floral tribute ceremony at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Town Hall premises. Following this, the procession commenced from the Town Hall, winding through various streets of Panisagar Bazaar before returning to its starting point.

The event was attended by Panisagar Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Anuradha Das, Vice Chairperson Dhananjay Debnath, Councillor Pompi Nath Das and other municipal staff members.

The procession also marked the conclusion of the 15-day “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, which had been actively observed across all 13 wards of Panisagar Nagar Panchayat from September 17 to October 2. The campaign featured a series of competitive events and cleanliness drives aimed at promoting hygiene and civic responsibility.

Sanitation workers from the Nagar Panchayat participated enthusiastically in the procession. At its conclusion, a collective pledge was taken to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all wards of Panisagar.

With this, the Panisagar Nagar Panchayat officially concluded its extended Swachhata Hi Seva initiative, reinforcing its commitment to a cleaner and healthier community.
