Agartala, 4th July 2024: A hanging body of a youth was found under the bridge at Pratapgarh in Agartala city on Thursday morning. Police swiftly responded recovering the body and transporting it to GB Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The deceased has been identified as Mithun Sarkar (28). Mithun’s father revealed that their family originally hails from Ramchandra Ghat in Khowai district, though they have been residing in a rented house in Pratapgarh for nearly a year. Mithun had been estranged from his wife, who left for her father’s home about a year ago following nine years of marriage. The couple has a son who lives with Mithun and his father.
According to his father, Mithun had been troubled since his wife left often disappearing from home for days without notice. Six days back, he took Rs 200 from his mother and left after which his family could not locate him despite extensive searches. On Thursday morning, they received the devastating news of his death and rushed to the scene.
The incident has led to widespread commotion in the area as residents grapple with the sudden loss. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Mithun’s death.
