Agartala, 24th November 2025: Forest department officials in Charilam seized illegal timber worth nearly Rs 4 lakh along with a Bolero vehicle during a raid this afternoon.
Officials informed that a group of timber smugglers was transporting the contraband in a Bolero fitted with a fake number plate. Acting on suspicion, multiple forest officers pursued the vehicle from behind. The chase continued into the dense forest area near Padmanagar in Bishramganj, where the smugglers abandoned the vehicle and fled, leaving behind the timber.
The seized vehicle and timber were later brought to the Charilam Forest Office. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify those involved in the smuggling operation.
