By TC News Desk

Agartala, 18th September 2024:   An Indian citizen named Chailafroo Mog, was abducted while legally traveling in Bangladesh. The kidnappers demanded Rs 1 lakh as ransom. Mug’s wife, desperate for help, approached Belonia police station, but was reportedly mocked and labeled insane by the officers, who refused to intervene. Instead, they advised her to pay the ransom.

The abduction took place on September 13 when Chailafroo Mog, a resident of Rajnagar block, was returning to India. The kidnappers contacted his wife, demanding ransom. After collecting Rs 20,000, she sent it to the abductors. Mug was later brought near the Bangladesh Immigration post, where one kidnapper was arrested and handed over to Parashuram police.

Mog is currently at Parashuram police station, with plans to transfer him to Chittagong police station. A case will be filed against the seven abductors. The incident has raised concerns over police misconduct and negligence at Belonia police station.
