Agartala, 15th June 2024: The Jatrapur police station in Sonamura sub-division has achieved notable success in an anti-narcotics operation. Acting on intelligence received, police conducted a late-night raid on the residence of Naresh Noaatia in Mohin Chowdhury Para area of Manaipathar village.
According to OC Subrata Debnath of Jatrapur police station, the raid commenced on Saturday after 1:30 AM following a tip-off. After an intensive search lasting till 3 AM, police officials recovered a substantial amount of contraband. The haul included 48.5 kilograms of cannabis comprising two large plastic drums and three sacks.
Naresh Noatia, the occupant of the raided premises was arrested during the operation along with the recovered contraband. OC Subrata Debnath confirmed that a case has been registered against Noatia under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), and he will be presented before the Sonamura Court on Saturday.
OC Subrata Debnath led the operation himself, with the support of Police Inspector Arup Debbarma, TSR and other police personnel from the station. The operation was carried out under the directives of higher authorities in the Defense Department, indicating a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking in the region.
Authorities have indicated that such operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to curb illicit drug activities in Tripura.
