Justice Arindam Lodh appointed as Chairperson of Tripura Human Rights Commission

Agartala, 30th April 2025:  Justice Arindam Lodh, retired judge of the Tripura High Court has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission. The appointment was confirmed by Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and officially notified on Tuesday.

According to the notification, the appointment has been made under sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. Justice Lodh will serve a term of three years or until he attains the age of 70, whichever comes earlier.

The selection of Justice Lodh is seen as a significant move to strengthen the institutional framework for human rights protection in the state. Officials expressed confidence that his judicial experience will contribute meaningfully to the Commission’s mission.
