Khowai Police Refute Claims of “Zombie Drug” Circulation in District

Date:

Agartala, 17th  May 2026:  Khowai District Police has dismissed as baseless the rumours and social media claims regarding the alleged presence of “Zombie Drug” in Khowai district.

In an official clarification, the police stated that extensive enquiries were carried out through the SDPOs of Khowai and Teliamura subdivisions. The investigation confirmed that no complaint, FIR, seizure, arrest, or medically verified case connected to any so-called zombie drug has been reported anywhere in the district so far.

Authorities further informed that consultations with the Health Department and various intelligence agencies also found no indication of such drugs being circulated in the area.

The clarification follows a viral social media video claiming that an individual seen in the footage was under the influence of a “Zombie Drug.” However, an enquiry by Khowai Police Station revealed that the person was actually intoxicated due to alcohol consumption, as confirmed by local residents and eyewitnesses.

Police appealed to citizens not to spread or trust unverified information on social media, warning that such rumours can create unnecessary panic among the public.

Reaffirming its commitment to the “Nasha Mukta Tripura” campaign, Khowai District Police stated that strict vigilance, enforcement drives, and awareness programmes against narcotics and illegal substances will continue across the district.
