Agartala, 24th June 2024 :   Left Front’s student and youth wings held a protest rally on Monday, denouncing alleged irregularities and corruption that led to the cancellation of major exams like NEET and NET. The demonstrators also called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The rally, organized by the Tripura Left Front’s students and youth wings—including the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Tribal Students Union (TSU), and Tribal Youth Federation (TYF)—began at Paradise Chowmuni in Agartala and marched through the city’s streets.

Palash Majumder, DYFI state president, spoke to reporters, accusing the BJP of undermining the education system.

“In the past 15 days, exam papers for multiple national-level exams were leaked, revealing significant corruption. Several exams were subsequently canceled, putting students’ futures at risk. The BJP government is driving students’ futures into darkness. Initially, they attempted to conceal the corruption, but eventually, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledged the irregularities in national exams,” he said.

Majumder explained that the protest by the four left-wing student organizations—SFI, DYFI, TSU, and TYF—was to demand the resignation of the Union Education Minister and to call for stringent action against those involved in the corruption.

“Commercialization of education is leading to these massive corruptions. We demand immediate solutions and the scrapping of the National Education Policy, as it is ruining the education system under the guise of reform,” he added.
