Agartala, 21st March 2025: Tripura Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury on Friday strongly criticized the state budget for the 2025-26 financial year, calling it “anti-people,” “hollow,” and “directionless.”
Reacting to the budget presentation, Chaudhury, who also serves as the Tripura CPI(M) state committee secretary, said, “Despite the finance minister’s prolonged speech filled with ornamental language, the budget fails to address the pressing issues plaguing the state.”
He pointed out that crucial concerns such as the rural crisis, rising unemployment, struggles of small traders, deteriorating law and order, and rampant corruption were overlooked. According to him, the budget neither prioritizes public welfare nor focuses on wealth creation, making it ineffective in fostering economic growth.
“This budget does not offer concrete solutions for youth unemployment, declining business incomes, worsening law and order, or the deep-seated corruption spanning from the Panchayat to the Assembly. Though a significant amount has been allocated, past experiences indicate that these funds seldom translate into tangible progress. Unfortunately, this budget follows the same trajectory,” Chaudhury remarked.
He further alleged that the newly announced projects and schemes primarily serve the interests of those who have been exploiting the state’s resources for the past seven years rather than addressing the needs of the common people.
