Tripura FM Presents 32,423 Crore Budget for 2025-26, Prioritizes Capital Expenditure and Welfare Schemes

Agartala, 21st March 2025:  Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday presented the state budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, amounting to 32,423 crore. The budget, which comes with a deficit of 429.56 crore, maintains the state’s policy of not introducing any new taxes. 

With a strong focus on economic growth and welfare, the Finance Minister emphasized increased capital expenditure, which has been projected at 7,903 crore—marking a 19.14% rise compared to the previous fiscal year. The state’s own tax revenue is estimated at 4,010 crore, while non-tax revenue is projected to be 504 crore. 

“This year’s budget prioritizes inclusive development, with key allocations for agriculture, education, and healthcare,” said the minister. The agriculture and allied sector has been allotted 1,885.42 crore, an increase of 9.49%, while the education sector has received 6,166.19 crore—an 11.94% hike. The health sector saw a 12.89% rise, with 1,948.69 crore allocated for better medical infrastructure and services. 

Compared to the previous budget, the 2025-26 financial plan reflects a significant expansion, increasing by 4,618.77 crore from the 2024-25 budget estimates. The revised estimates for the last fiscal year stood at 30,296.50 crore.  A major highlight of this budget is the introduction of 13 new schemes aimed at boosting various sectors, with a particular focus on women’s empowerment and inclusive development. The government aims to strengthen social welfare initiatives while ensuring fiscal stability.
