Agartala, 24th May 2025:  The longstanding demand of residents for better connectivity is finally being fulfilled with the construction of a 9.5-kilometer stretch of road linking Satchand block, Sindhukpathar, and Bankul Mahamuni to the Sabroom-Agartala National Highway. The project, backed by an Rs 8.5 crore allocation from the Tourism Department, aims to enhance infrastructure and ease travel for locals and visitors alike.

For years, the deteriorating condition of this road has caused immense hardships, rendering it almost unpassable. However, the ongoing development has sparked enthusiasm among residents, who believe the improved route will significantly contribute to local economic growth and accessibility.

MLA Mailafru Mog, addressing the issue, highlighted the importance of the Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Temple as a key tourist destination. “Hundreds of visitors come here daily, but the poor condition of the road posed serious difficulties. After discussions with Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Rs 8.5 crore was sanctioned to Sabroom PWD for the road’s construction,” he stated.

The new roadway is expected to not only boost tourism but also support businesses, facilitate trade, improve agricultural transportation, and provide safer commutes for students.
