Agartala, 22nd November 2023 : In a surprise visit to the Handloom, Handicraft, and Sericulture Department located in Indranagar of Agartala, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma expressed dissatisfaction with the attendance rate of workers and promptly issued directives for necessary measures to be taken.
Minister Debbarma, highlighting the significance of the handloom, handicraft, and sericulture departments in rural economic development, emphasized the importance of punctuality for the effective functioning of these crucial sectors.
The minister said that a decision had been made to operate the office from 10 am to 5:30 pm, with notices sent to various government offices to adhere to the revised schedule. During his visit, he discovered that at least 20 workers had failed to report to the office on time, prompting the issuance of show cause notices.
Minister Debbarma directed the department’s head to take immediate action against the tardy employees and ensure that disciplinary measures are implemented. He asserted that the government’s goal is to propel the department towards development and enhance its reputation. According to him, since the formation of the BJP-led government in Tripura in 2018, the department has been progressing steadily, contributing to the economic independence of the people.
The minister warned of continued scrutiny and operations in the coming days to maintain and further enhance the efficiency and reputation of the department.
