Agartala, 19th June 2025 : Fisheries, ARD, and SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das on Thursday called on employees across the three departments to embrace a culture of continuous improvement, proactive engagement, and results-driven service delivery.
Addressing officials at the Chintan Shibir-cum-Felicitation Programme at the State Guest House, Das underscored the importance of efficiency and accountability in driving development outcomes. “Departments that perform must be recognised—it cultivates a healthy competition,” he said, reflecting on the long-awaited initiative to honour exemplary service.
Das highlighted a successful fiscal year 2024–25, with departments achieving over 95% of set targets. “From leadership to the grassroots, everyone contributed meaningfully,” he said, citing innovations such as prawn cultivation, livestock loss compensation, land reclamation, and Matsya Sampada Yojana initiatives.
On SC welfare, he emphasized efforts to move beyond conventional schemes by seeking fresh initiatives with support from the Chief Minister and Finance Minister.
Secretary Deepa D Nair shared that project proposals worth ₹500 crore from ARD and Fisheries and ₹70 crore for SC development have been submitted to funding agencies. Additionally, policy reforms and a new transfer framework are in the pipeline.
ARD Director Dr. N.K. Chanchal credited the minister’s vision for high fund utilization and operational efficiency, noting the appointment of 67 veterinary officers and 74 MTS staff. SC Welfare Director Jayanta Dey echoed the sentiment, detailing inclusive schemes under DBT and PM-AJAY, aimed at uplifting underprivileged communities.
