Agartala, October 31: A 16-year-old boy suffered a broken tooth and a fractured leg after he crashed his scooty into an e-rickshaw while trying to take a selfie on the national highway near Dharmanagar on Tuesday morning. The boy, identified as Surya Sarkar, was rushed to the North District Hospital and later referred to Agartala GB Hospital for further treatment.

According to sources, Sarkar was riding his scooty bearing registration number TR05E-6963 on the alternate national highway at Baruakandi around 7 am when he decided to take a selfie with his phone. He lost control of his vehicle and hit the back of an e-rickshaw (DMC E-1094) that was ahead of him. The impact of the collision caused him to fall off his scooty and injure himself.

The Dharmanagar fire department received a call about the accident and reached the spot to rescue Sarkar. They took him to the nearby hospital where the doctors found that he had a broken tooth and a broken left leg. They advised him to be shifted to GB Hospital in Agartala for better treatment.

The locals who witnessed the incident expressed their shock and dismay over the reckless behaviour of the minor. They wondered whether he would learn his lesson after risking his life for a selfie. They also urged the authorities to take strict action against underage driving and enforce road safety rules.
