Belonia: Electrical short circuit suspected at Shaltila mobile tower fire incident

By TC  News Desk

Agartala, October 31, 2023: Shaltila, a densely populated locality in Belonia, narrowly averted a potentially catastrophic fire incident that unfolded late last night. Local residents bore witness to the sudden ignition of a mobile tower, which had the potential for widespread destruction. The prompt response of the fire brigade helped avert a larger disaster, with early indications pointing to an electrical short circuit as the likely cause.

The dramatic event took place around nine o’clock last night when an observant neighbour spotted the mobile tower ablaze. They immediately alerted the Belonia Fire Brigade, who sprang into action without delay. The firefighters exhibited commendable speed and efficiency, bringing the fire under control within moments, limiting its spread and the resultant damage.

A fire department spokesperson confirmed that the origin of the blaze is suspected to be an electrical short circuit within the mobile tower infrastructure. Given the densely populated nature of Shaltila and the proximity of the tower to residential areas, the swift response from the firefighting team was pivotal in ensuring the safety of local residents.

Although the incident did not escalate into a full-fledged disaster, it has reignited concerns within the community about the safety of such towers in residential neighbourhoods. Local residents are now voicing their demand for enhanced safety measures and vigilance to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

As the community exhales a collective sigh of relief, they remain determined to prevent future emergencies of this nature, ensuring the safety and tranquillity of Shaltila and its inhabitants.
