Agartala, 9th July 2024: Ahead of the panchayat elections, miscreants targeted and vandalized a rubber garden belonging to Shyamal Debbarma in the Gulirai Bari area. The vandalism took place taking advantage of darkness on Monday night leaving the household devastated.
Shyamal Debbarma, a resident of Guliraibari area found the destruction on Tuesday morning triggering an emotional outburst. For years, Debbarma had meticulously cultivated a rubber plantation, which served as his primary source of livelihood. His hopes shattered as he found 280 out of 380 rubber trees ruthlessly cut down, days before they were due to yield rubber.
The revelation of the ruined garden prompted immediate distress, drawing concerned local residents to the scene. Debbarma visibly distraught expressed disbelief asserting that he had no known enemies. Local residents, shocked by the incident, demanded a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victim and to prevent such acts in the future.
