Agartala, 28th August 2025: Returning from the recently concluded monsoon session of Parliament, BJP MP Biplab Kumar Deb today launched a scathing attack on opposition parties, accusing them of deliberately stalling proceedings over multiple contentious issues. Speaking to reporters, Deb mocked the opposition’s conduct, remarking, “They sleep with their eyes open—waking them is impossible.”
The disruptions, he claimed, stemmed primarily from debates surrounding the proposed intensive revision of Bihar’s voter list and a controversial bill that would disqualify ministers sentenced to 30 days or more in jail. Deb’s sharp commentary has sparked fresh political discourse across party lines.
Deb also took aim at the recent rally held by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, which featured Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. He described Stalin’s presence as emblematic of the opposition’s “political bankruptcy,” asserting that the people of Bihar would once again place their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The rally was not a show of strength—it was a display of desperation,” Deb said, adding that Stalin had previously made “indecent remarks” about Biharis and showed no remorse, yet joined hands with Rahul and Tejashwi in the public demonstration.
Addressing the media, Deb ridiculed opposition MPs for demanding discussions on decisions made by autonomous bodies like the Election Commission. “They fail to grasp even basic parliamentary procedures—how can a minister answer for an independent institution’s decision?” he asked.
He further alleged that instead of attending the Commission’s invitation for dialogue, opposition leaders chose to stage “drama” on Delhi’s streets. “They can’t walk two steps without falling ill, yet claim to fight for the people,” he quipped.
Despite the uproar, Deb noted that the central government successfully passed several bills in public interest. He referenced the opposition’s demand for a debate on “Operation Sindoor,” saying the Prime Minister’s response had metaphorically “marked them with sindoor,” rendering further discussion moot.
Reflecting on Bihar’s political heritage, Deb invoked the legacy of leaders like Jagjivan Ram, emphasizing the state’s role in resisting the Emergency. He accused Rahul and Tejashwi of insulting that legacy by aligning with Stalin, and predicted that voters would respond decisively in the upcoming assembly elections.
“The people of Bihar know where their trust lies—with Prime Minister Modi. The results will speak for themselves,” Deb concluded.
