Sushanta holds meeting to strengthens PDS across state

Agartala, 28th August 2025:   Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the public distribution system (PDS) in the state.

The minister emphasized that the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs is dedicated to ensuring that the benefits of the PDS reach people across all regions of Tripura.

As part of this initiative, Minister Chowdhury participated today in a mutual discussion, dialogue, and exchange of views organized by the Fair Price Shop Management Association. The event, held at Auditorium No. 1 of the Rabindra Centenary Building in Agartala, brought together ration dealers from various districts, transporters involved in the movement of food items, and millers from local mills.

During the session, stakeholders highlighted challenges they face in the functioning of the PDS. Minister Chowdhury assured that, through joint efforts, these issues would be addressed to strengthen the efficiency and reach of the system. He also directed senior officials present at the discussion to take forward the activities of the Food Department in the larger interest of the people.

The minister concluded by seeking the cooperation of all stakeholders involved in the PDS, emphasizing that collective action is essential for ensuring food security and smooth distribution across the state.
