Agartala, 11th April 2026: In a rare display of political courtesy, Tipra Motha candidate David Murasingh set an example of restraint and humanity during election tensions in the Kathalia-Mirza-Rajapur constituency. Singh personally intervened to ensure the safe release of BJP legislator Jitendra Majumdar, who had faced an angry protest from party workers.
The incident took place at Kalikhola, where Majumdar, MLA from Salgarah-Kakraban, reportedly entered the area in violation of election rules. His sudden visit sparked unrest, with Tipra Motha supporters surrounding him and staging demonstrations.
As the situation grew tense, Murasingh instructed his party workers not to take the law into their own hands. He urged them to let the MLA go unharmed and treated with respect. Singh then spoke directly with Majumdar over the phone, assuring him of safety and arranging his release.
By keeping calm and prioritizing dignity over confrontation, Murasingh’s actions created a new precedent in the heated atmosphere of election campaigning.
