Agartala, 16th May 2025: National Dengue Day was observed today in Unakoti district marked by various awareness programs organized by the Health Department in collaboration with social organizations. The annual observance today aims to educate the public about dengue prevention emphasizing the message: “Awareness is the main way to prevent dengue.”
A key highlight of the day’s events was an awareness rally, jointly organized by the District Health Department and social organization ‘Be Fit and Fit Others.’ The rally began at RGM Hospital toured major roads of Kailashahar town before concluding at its starting point. Health workers, students, and citizens actively participated, advocating for improved mosquito control and hygiene practices.
Following the rally, a ‘Sit and Draw’ competition was held at RGM Hospital, where children creatively depicted dengue prevention messages through their artwork. Additionally, awareness camps and health camps were conducted at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and schools across the district.
Addressing the significance of the initiative, District Malaria Officer Dr. Shankhashubra Debnath stated, “Dengue cases have been reported in over 100 districts, prompting the need for widespread awareness efforts from cities to villages.” He added that health workers are directly visiting affected areas to educate residents on mosquito breeding sites and preventive measures.
The Health Department hopes that these initiatives will encourage community participation in dengue prevention, fostering a proactive approach to public health and mosquito control.
