Agartala, 14th June 2025:  In a major development in the gruesome murder case that has shocked the city, the NCC Police today recreated the crime scene at the residence of Joydeep Das in Kabarkhola, Indranagar where Shariful was allegedly murdered on the night of June 08 last.

According to police sources, the two primary accused Dr. Dibakar Saha and Nabanita Das were taken to the scene to demonstrate how the murder was executed. They allegedly provided a detailed account of the incident to NCC Police Station Officer-in-Charge Pranjit Malakar and Additional SP Swapan Saha.

Investigators revealed that the murder stemmed from a love triangle involving Shariful, a young woman and Dr. Dibakar Saha. Frequent disputes between Shariful and the woman reportedly led to her developing a relationship with Dibakar.

On the night of June 8, Dr. Saha lured Shariful to Joydeep Das’ house under the pretense of gifting him something. Nabanita Das and Animesh Yadav were already present. There, Shariful was allegedly strangled to death by Dr. Saha.

In a chilling detail, police say Dr. Saha had purchased a trolley two days before the murder and kept it at his home. After the killing, the body was placed in the trolley and hidden in another room of the house. The next day, Dibakar’s parents Dipak and Debika Saha arrived from Gandacherra in an Ecco car, transported the body and stored it in a deep freezer of a paan shop.

Following confessions by the accused, Shariful’s body was recovered on June 11 last. Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The police are now investigating whether more individuals were involved.
