New industrial zones proposed for Khowai, South: Santana

Agartala, 5th September 2024: Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma today informed that the state government has taken initiative to set up industrial zones in all the districts of the state.

She said that initiatives have been taken to set up industrial zones in all the districts of the state, while earlier there was no industrial zone in Khowai district but now there is a proposal to set up a new industrial zone in that district.

“Also, 127.09 acres of land at Shantirbazar under South Tripura district has been handed over to the Department of Industries for setting up a new industrial zone”, she said

Industry and Commerce Minister Santana gave this information in a written reply to a question of Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury in the State Assembly today.

She said that 24 new small scale industrial sheds and 28 market stalls have been constructed for women and self-help groups in AD Nagar Industrial Area.

“Also, 12 low cost sheds have been constructed in Bodhjungnagar and 28 in R K Nagar industrial area to help small scale industrialists in setting up their industries”, she said.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce said that grants are being provided from the bank in various central projects with the aim of making the educated unemployed youth of the state self-reliant.

Also through the state government’s own self-reliance scheme every year many unemployed youths are being given grants through the bank.

“At the same time, through the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited of the Department of Industry and Commerce, necessary land/sheds are provided in various industrial areas of the state to those who wish to set up industries. Under the Central Government’s PM-Vishwakarma scheme in the state, the traditional artisans of 18 specially selected trades are being supported, conserved, given technical training, financial assistance and promotion of their industries for prosperity and quality improvement. Meanwhile, 191 artists have received a total of Rs. 2577.58 lakh loans from various banks”, she added.
