Newborn’s body found in Khowai River, sparks outrage at Icharbil village

Agartala, 1st June 2024:    The body of a newborn was found in the Khowai River early this morning, causing a stir at Tripura’s Icharbil village under Teliamura police station in Khowai district.

A local resident, who was on a morning walk at around 7 am, found the infant’s body floating in the river. The resident promptly reported the finding to the Teliamura police station.

Upon receiving the information, police officers rushed to the scene, recovered the body and shifted it to Teliamura sub-divisional hospital for a post-mortem examination. The circumstances surrounding how the newborn ended up in the river remain unclear.

The police have initiated an investigation to uncover the details of this tragic incident, which has left the local community in shock.
